Put your agent on your Shopify store

About 5 minutesNo code neededUpdated July 2026

After this guide, visitors on your Shopify storefront can chat (or talk) with your agent — and the agent can check real order status, search your catalog, and handle address changes, cancellations and return requests. The widget ships inside the Qalyb Shopify app: no code, no snippet pasting.

Before you start, make sure you have:
A Qalyb agent — if you don't have one yet, follow Create your first agent (5 minutes)
A Shopify store you can install apps on (store owner or staff with app permissions)
Note:
Connecting channels needs an admin role in Qalyb. You can start from either side: the Qalyb dashboard (below) or by installing the Qalyb app from your Shopify admin — both end in the same place.
Open Deploy and pick Shopify

In the Qalyb dashboard, click Deploy in the left menu, then under E-commerce choose Shopify. Pick the agent that should answer your shoppers.

Install the Qalyb app on your store

Click Install from the Shopify App Store. A new tab opens the Qalyb listing — install it and pick your store. Inside the app, click Connect Qalyb account and approve linking the store to your workspace. Back in Qalyb, the page detects the store automatically and binds your agent.

Turn on the widget in your theme

In the Qalyb app inside Shopify, click Enable on storefront — it opens your theme editor on the App embeds panel. Toggle Qalyb Widget on and hit Save. This is a one-time, one-click step (Shopify requires the merchant to flip it).

Check your storefront

Open your store: the chat widget is live, themed with your agent's branding. Switching the agent later updates the storefront instantly — no theme edits.

What your agent can do with Shopify

Connecting the store also gives your agent native Shopify actions: live order status (guarded — the shopper must give the order number and the checkout email before any details are shared), product search with prices, stock and links, and the store's published policies. They attach to your chosen agent automatically; manage them from the agent's AI Actions tab.

Order changes

Once you approve the app's order permissions in your Shopify admin, the agent can also resolve the requests that usually end up as tickets:

  • Change the shipping address — while the order is still unfulfilled.
  • Cancel the order — unfulfilled orders only; items are restocked, any captured payment is refunded to the original method, and Shopify emails the shopper.
  • Request a return — for delivered items. The request lands in your Shopify admin as a return awaiting your approval; the agent never approves or refunds a return itself.

Every change follows the same guardrails: the shopper proves ownership with the order number and checkout email, the agent reads back exactly what will happen, and it only executes after an explicit yes. Anything past that point (a shipped order, a declined change) is handed to your team through the normal escalation flow. Don't want the agent to take an action? Detach that tool from the agent's AI Actions tab.
